🌍 FREE TO USE WITH ATTRIBUTION (UPDATED OFFICIAL POLICY)
⚠️ ATTENTION
Not all of my music is available for free use.
Only selected tracks may be used for free, as long as proper attribution is provided as described below.
If a track is not clearly marked as “Free to Use”, a commercial license is required.
WHEN FREE USE IS ALLOWED
You may only use a track for free when it is clearly indicated:
- in the YouTube video description, or
- in the official track description, or
- through the official playlist below:
🎧 Official “Free To Use” Playlist
🔗 Free To Use Playlist (Spotify)
If a track is not listed or identified as Free To Use, it is not authorized for free use.
WHAT IS ALLOWED
With proper attribution, you may:
- use the music in YouTube videos (short or long)
- use in YouTube Shorts
- use in Twitch livestreams and VODs
- use in social media content
- monetize your content
✔ Monetization allowed
✔ No takedown when correctly credited
✔ Long-form videos are allowed with attribution
SHORT-FORM PLATFORM RULE
This applies to:
- Instagram Reels
- Facebook Reels
- TikTok
- YouTube Shorts
You may use my music for free in videos up to 60 seconds, as long as attribution is provided.
🔹 TikTok – Special Rule
TikTok has its own limitation:
- copyrighted music may only be used in videos up to 60 seconds
- even with a license, TikTok automatically removes audio beyond this limit
This is TikTok’s platform rule, not mine.
🔹 YouTube Shorts
You may use my music in:
- Shorts up to 60s
- Shorts over 60s
- normal long YouTube videos
As long as attribution is included.
MANDATORY ATTRIBUTION
Attribution to the artist is required for all free uses.
The credit may be placed anywhere in the description, as long as it is visible.
USING A SINGLE TRACK
If you are using only one track, use this credit format:
Track: [Track Name]
Artist: Øraeth
Source: https://soundcloud.com/itsoraeth
USING MULTIPLE TRACKS (LIVESTREAMS / PLAYLIST)
If you are using multiple tracks — for example, using the official Free To Use playlist during livestreams — you may use the simplified credit format:
Music by Øraeth
Source: https://soundcloud.com/itsoraeth
✔ Valid only when the music used belongs to the official Free To Use playlist.
IMPORTANT
- attribution must be present at the time of publication
- lack of attribution makes the usage unauthorized
- adding credit later may not be recognized as valid by YouTube
YOUTUBE & CONTENT ID
YouTube analyzes content at the moment of upload.
If the video is uploaded without credit and attribution is added later, usage may be considered invalid because Content ID has already processed it.
This rule is specific to YouTube.
PIXABAY & OTHER PLATFORMS
When music is obtained through Pixabay or similar platforms, you must follow:
- the platform’s rules
- and the rules on this page
For tracks downloaded from Pixabay, Pixabay’s terms take priority.
Free use does not conflict with my paid licensing policies.
DOWNLOADING THE MUSIC — FOR VIDEO & EDITING PROJECTS
If you want to download tracks for:
- YouTube videos
- films
- vlogs
- editing projects
- or other audiovisual productions
You have the following options:
🔹 Free Download
You may download high-quality MP3 files via:
✔ Rules per platform:
SoundCloud → follows the rules of this page, with mandatory attribution.
Pixabay → follows Pixabay’s own licensing and platform terms.
🔹 High-Quality Files
If you need:
- WAV
- studio-quality audio
- higher fidelity
You may purchase the track via Bandcamp.
👉 However: even after purchasing on Bandcamp, attribution is still required.
🔹 Usage WITHOUT Attribution
The only case where attribution is NOT required is when you purchase an official commercial license.
Only the license removes the credit requirement.
LIMITATIONS OF FREE USE
Even with attribution, it is NOT allowed to:
- resell or redistribute the music on its own
- provide it as a downloadable file
- register the music as your own
- create derivative works (remixes, covers, creative edits, stems)
Only minimal technical adjustments (trimming and volume) are allowed.
WHEN YOU MUST PURCHASE A LICENSE
You must purchase a paid license if:
- you do not want to provide attribution
- the track is not marked as Free to Use
- you need broader usage flexibility
